Robert Wisnewski

Robert “Bob” Wisnewski, 84, of Lidgerwood, ND, passed away June 26, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge, MN.

Robert Charles, born July 6, 1927, on a farm near Geneseo, ND, was the second of six children of Robert and Kathryn (Sakry) Wisnewski. As the oldest son, the majority of his youth was spent helping his father on the farm; and it’s during this time that he learned not only the value of things, but the value of hard work. This helped contribute to his success in his lifelong business of buying, selling, and trading, which started out in the horse business and then went to machinery.

In 1964, he went to work for horse dealer, Hugh Miller, at the Rocky Knoll Ranch near Whitewater, Wisconsin, until his father, Robert Sr. persuaded him to move back and help with the family business. Many who knew Robert Sr., and Bob, said there was an uncanny resemblance between the two, especially in the way they did business.

Bob was united in marriage to Roberta Ann Hogness. They made their home in Lidgerwood, where they raised their three children, Sandra, Timothy, and Denise. After his dad’s death in 1968, Bob went out on his own and started “Bob’s Used Machinery”, serving customers throughout the Midwest, Canada, and as far south as Bolivia, South America. Bob continued working in his business up until the time of his death, and was currently the oldest businessman in Lidgerwood.

He is survived by three children and five grandchildren, Sandra (Jim Kuchera) Wisnewski, Wyndmere, ND, Timothy (Alicia) Wisnewski and children, Anthony, Elise, and Isaac, Buffalo, ND, and Denise (Chris) Cannella, and children, Ty and Jordan, Buckeye, AZ. He is also survived by two brothers, Eymard (Marilyn) Wisnewski, Chicago, IL and John (Elaine) Wisnewski, Lidgerwood, ND; and three sisters, Helen Uvodic, Chicago, IL, Evelyn Hegle, Lisbon, ND, and Joyce Wisnewski, Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Roberta, and a grandson, Joe Wisnewski Kuchera.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with the Rosary starting at 10:30, and Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. all at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Geneseo, ND. Burial will be at St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery, Geneseo.
